Childhood Obesity

Childhood obesity doesnt necessarily mean that your child is going to be overweight their entire lives. There are plenty of children that were obese their entire childhood but grow up not to be. It is important that you understand that its not healthy for your child to be overweight. This can invite many health problems that your child otherwise wouldn’t deal with if they were not overweight.

There is nothing easy for a child that is obese; its tough being a kid. This can often lead them to being the center of many jokes in school and even cause them to not have many friends. As a kid this can very well lead to depression, and this is not a good thing for a child to deal with.

The main cause of pediatric obesity is due to both parents being overweight as well. There is actually an 80 percent chance of your child being overweight if both parents are, but this is not the only cause of this problem. Obesity in children has been on a rise over the past few years, and this is a real concern because of the health risks that are involved. Kids definitely dont have the same type of imagination and adventures that many of us did when we were younger. Things have changed, and a great amount of this change is in video games.

So many children are sitting down and playing video games for hours, and they of course have snacks right next to them while they are staring at the screen intensely. This is a big problem, and something that needs to be limited in a day.

Kids need to be active, its healthy for them, and helps to promote good health. 30 minutes of activities is all they require along with healthy foods and snacks, such as celery with peanut butter, raisin and granola and so many others. There are many fun food preparations that you can get your kid involved in to help them begin eating better, such as creating a fruit salad.

Listen I know how much times have changed, both parents are working to make ends meet and allowing them to play video games does give you a piece of mind. Keep in mind that its doing more harm than good to the health of your child both physically and mentally.
