Brainstorming for Homemade Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day was just around the corner and we had not yet decided on what to give mom for the occasion. Now, since most of us were going through a financial crunch anything extravagant was out of the question. Jamie, Sophia’s ten-year-old suggested that we look for some homemade Mother’s Day gift ideas. Everyone agreed with it. After all, it’s days like these when all of us children and grandchildren gather home to celebrate the day with her.

So on Friday, all of us gathered secretly in the house while mom was out with her friends and brainstormed for homemade Mother’s Day gift ideas. Zoe suggested we clean the house and garden for mom but Ruby and Harry shot it down and Ruth’s idea of making jewelry was also a no-go. While we were still wondering what to gift her, Sally thought of involving dad in the brainstorm session.

We asked dad to sit with us and give his inputs on homemade Mother’s Day gift ideas. On learning what we wanted, he promptly walked out of the room. Looking at the bright smile on his face we had thought he was only too happy to oblige us but his sudden act left us shocked. Ruth went behind him to check what was wrong and when she came back, she was laughing her head off.

It turns out dad had rushed to the computer to search the web and his favorite dad site for homemade Mother’s Day gift ideas. He had only recently learnt the other great uses of computer like surfing the net and chatting with people from around the world. Finally, we decided to give her a surprise home cooked dinner as a Mother’s Day gift.
